McGimpsey moves in on benefits of Mercedes-Benz Atego22 February 2016

Northern Ireland’s McGimpsey Removals has taken delivery of a Mercedes-Benz Atego 818, selected following blemish-free performance for 10 years from its predecessor, the Atego 815.

Supplied by dealer Mercedes-Benz Truck & Van (NI), the Bangor-based operator’s latest addition is rated at 7.5 tonnes gvw and has a six-seater crew cab and bespoke body, which includes doors to both side as well as the rear, by SBR Specialist Coachbuilders.

The first Atego clocked up 75,000 miles and, says McGimpsey’s managing director Paul McGimpsey, “was simply perfect”.

He adds: “The body was looking tired and it was a little worn, of course, but it still started every day. We had it from new and it never gave us any problems at all.

“We had a look around at what the competition has to offer but the quality of the Atego is undeniable, while the fact that we could order the truck with a crew cab direct from the factory, rather than having to rely on an after-market conversion, was another big plus-point.”

The new Atego is being used for local work and, says McGimpsey, is proving a visible advertisement for the company: “Image is very important in this business and the new Mercedes-Benz looks really smart in our colours.”
