MCL adds two Classic Volvo FHs to its fleet 26 June 2013

Citing impressive fuel returns and competitive rental costs, MCL UK has added two Classic Volvo FH 6x2 Globetrotter XL tractor units to its 65-strong fleet.

Designed to operate with a variety of trailers, including curtainsiders, flats and bulk units, the FH trucks, supplied by Truck and Bus Wales & West, are now operating throughout the UK.

"We now operate a dozen Volvos and our expectations are that these latest trucks will match – and even exceed – the benchmarks already set in areas such as reliability and fuel consumption," comments MCL's managing director, James Howells.

"We are big believers in being at the forefront when investing in the latest technology, so, for us, vehicle tracking and SatNav are now considered the basic tools of today's telematics," he adds.

By deploying Volvo's Dynafleet App, The Newport, Gwent-based logistics fikrm says that its transport manager can better engage with drivers, to ensure good productivity.

"Dynafleet telematics enable us to monitor key performance indicators, including driver behaviour, and how this affects fuel consumption," notes Howells.

Volvo driver-training was provided when the new trucks first entered service, and the company says there was an improvement of 1mpg "almost immediately".
