Mercedes Arocs tippers proving their worth for TJ Transport23 September 2014

Waste management and haulage firm TJ Transport has taken delivery of its first Euro 6 Mercedes Arocs tippers and says the vehicle "does not disappoint".

Supplied by dealer Pentagon Commercials, both are Arocs 3240K eight-wheelers with M ClassicSpace cabs and straight-six engines delivering 394bhp through PowerShift automated gearboxes.

Their alloy tipping bodies are by Wilcox Commercial Vehicles, of Peterborough.

The Arocs have been fitted with Daimler FleetBoard telematics systems and 360-degree cameras, as Fareham-based TJ Transport is accredited to FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme).

The operator is evaluating the Arocs against 32-tonne Swedish marque vehicles on its 100-strong fleet, looking at fuel efficiency, reliability and dealer support. It will base next year's orders on the result.

TJ Transport's last Mercedes-Benz vehicles were five Axor 8x4 tippers, acquired in 2009. Managing director John Gosling says these have proved so reliable and cost effective that the R&M contracts have been extended.
