Mercedes-Benz Actros tractor units arrive at Acumen29 January 2013

Acumen Distribution has taken delivery of 23 Mercedes-Benz Actros 4x2 tractor units as part of its fleet investment and expansion plans.

Obtained on a full maintenance contract hire agreement, the trucks were chosen for their reliability, low operating costs and, in particular, fuel efficiency, according to Chris Doughty, managing director, Acumen Distribution.

"After rigorous testing we chose the Mercedes-Benz Actros, primarily on its fuel economy but were also impressed with the innovative interior and driver comfort," says Doughty.

"As we have taken these new vehicles on a three-year R&M operating lease, we are able to have good visibility of our costs throughout their time with the company," he adds.

Driver comfort was also an important part of the decision-making process, according to Doughty.

The Actros tractor units, acquired through Widnes-based Riverside Truck Rental, have been equipped with manually adjustable air conditioning and comfort beds.

An air-sprung suspension seat ensures comfort and safety, and the wrap-around dashboard provides information easily.
