Michelin goes the extra mile with new coach tyre 09 October 2018

Michelin has launched the X Coach Z, a multi-position coach tyre that delivers up to 16% more mileage than its predecessor, according to the manufacturer.

The 295/80 R 22.5 X Coach Z can be fitted on both steer and drive axles, and carries both the M+S (Mud + Snow) and 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Snowflake) markings.

Said to be ideal for long-distance and regional operations, the tyre features Michelin’s Regenion and InfiniCoil technologies.

Regenion gives the tyre differently shaped grooves, with the longitudinal grooves regenerating as the tyre wears. Michelin’s engineers used 3D metal printing techniques to manufacture the moulds, enabling them to produce the complex tread patterns and profiles that emerge as the tyre wears.

InfiniCoil is a continuous steel cable around the entire crown block. This, says Michelin, gives an improved wear pattern and better casing endurance, helping to give up to 16% more mileage.

“The X Coach Z is an amazingly versatile product that will maintain performance through all seasons,” says Chris Smith, Michelin’s B2B sales director.

“With its robust construction comes increased reliability and minimised downtime, as well as reduced noise levels for drivers and passengers.”
