Mick George drives up awareness for National Lorry Week21 September 2016

Construction logistics firm Mick George is staging vehicle demonstrations and visiting schools to deliver educational and practical safety lessons as part of this year’s National Lorry Week (19-23 September).

The initiative is run by the Road Haulage Association and aims to demonstrate the vital role that the freight industry plays in everyday life.

The 2016 theme is ‘The Next Generation’ and Mick George is using the event to showcase the career prospects on offer within its business, which operates a 310-strong HGV fleet.

Jon Stump, finance director at Mick George, says: “We invest significant amounts of money in our fleet and schemes such as our own ‘Driver Academy’ to supplement this provision.

“Schemes such as National Lorry Week go a long way to raise the profile of the industry, influence perception and ensure adequate recognition is received. The industry is currently suffering a driver shortage, so what better way to showcase a great career prospect.”

The company has produced testimonials from its staff across the business to promote careers in transport: click the link below.
