Microlise launches Clear telematics for field service and fleet 01 July 2015

Telematics specialist Microlise has stepped beyond its heavy goods vehicle monitoring roots into the vans market, with the launch of its Clear system.

At a conference yesterday (30 June 20915), organised by Microlise at Millbrook Proving Ground to promote best practice in van management and maintenance, the company stated that its new package has been tuned for the professional field service and fleet sectors.

John Mills, head of mobile workforce telematics at Microlise, explained that Clear effectively empowers engineers and trades people to improve their vehicle management and driving performance – the goal being delivering safety, cost reduction and improved fleet compliance.

Microlise, he said, recognises that driver engagement is crucial, so Clear provides drivers with immediate insight and automation, using the Microlise Driver Performance Management mobile app, which is available on both iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.

Not only does the system help drivers to improve their own performance, with feedback to management, but also the system has been designed to beef up compliance and fleet safety.

Mills gave examples including the new system's built-in vehicle walkaround check module, which ensures that vehicles are checked daily and issues flagged to maintenance automatically.

He also pointed to the system's reporting suite, which provides management with insight on compliance in terms of work patterns and HMRC requirements, for private versus personal mileage tracking.

"Clear has been developed with the specific needs of organisations operating fleets of vehicles in mind, and we're excited to be working in such a dynamic space," asserted Mills.

"While telematics solutions are traditionally centred on vehicle tracking and driver performance, Clear comes complete with a range of other features that will help organisations to be compliant," he added.

"Comprehensive task management and communications further enhance efficiency and service levels."
