Millionth truck rolls off the line at DAF Eindhoven02 March 2015
The millionth truck has rolled off the line at DAF’s Eindhoven factory and was handed over to Bálint Révész, owner and CEO of Hungarian transport operator Révész Group last week (25 February), in front of the Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte.
Established by the van Doorne brothers – DAF stands for van Doorne's Automobile Factory – in 1949 the site produced 150 trucks. Last year, it made 36,000.
The prime minister congratulated the management team and its 5,000 employees on the achievement, saying: "The millionth DAF truck manufactured in Eindhoven is the millionth piece of evidence that the prescription of the brothers Van Doorne still works."
DAF's right-hand drive trucks are assembled in the UK at Leyland Trucks (like DAF, also a Paccar company).
