Minister to address transport industry on greenhouse gases27 May 2011

Mike Penning, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport, will be addressing the Freight Transport Association's Logistics Carbon Reduction Conference next month, on the subject of freight and greenhouse gas reduction.

The conference, to be held in London on 7 June, is aimed at helping operators to find business benefits from reducing carbon emissions.

FTA says fleet managers will be encouraged to set their own carbon reduction plans, having heard about latest practices and policy challenges ahead for the transport industry.

The conference will be chaired by FTA board member Rebecca Jenkins, with speakers including Professor Alan McKinnon of Heriot Watt University, plus representatives from DHL Supply Chain, Cenex, Mercedes, Homebase, John Lewis Partnership, Defra, Tesco Distribution and the NNFCC (the UK's National Centre for Biorenewable Energy, Fuels and Materials).
