MIRA accredited to ISO/IEC 17065 for functional safety 22 June 2015

MIRA is the first automotive facility in the UK to be awarded the ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation, which means it can certify vehicles, processes and services for functional safety against ISO 26262.

ISO/IEC 17065 – which previously existed as the non-ISO standard EN45011 – is the main ISO assessment standard used for certifying products' performance of products for the automotive industry, from software to mechanical parts.

"Our transition to the new standard demonstrates MIRA's ongoing commitment to ensuring the highest levels of quality across all of our activities," states Haydn Frost, manager of MIRA's business management system.

"We are accredited to IEC/ISO17065 to audit our customers' functional safety systems to the ISO26262 requirements," he continues.

"This enables us to then approve these audited systems, essentially making MIRA a one-stop-shop for OEMs and their auditing and certification needs."

ISO 26262 is widely accepted in the industry as best practice for the development of electrical and electronic systems in vehicles.

Functional safety audits and assessments against ISO 26262 can now be carried out by MIRA under the accreditation, giving its customers a high level of confidence in the assessment process.
