Moving floor trailers are good for trucking backloads 07 March 2011

Logistics firm Malcolm Group has taken delivery of eight new moving floor trailers, from Legras, for transporting waste paper from Scotland to North Wales for manufacturing paper reels.

Andrew Malcolm, chief executive of the Malcolm Group, says the trailers, which are Legras FMA 106m3 aluminium bodied units, are high specification lightweight multi purpose units, acquired for their quality of manufacture.

"Quality and service is paramount to our business and is derived from our continual investment in the latest vehicles, cutting edge technology and training," comments Malcolm.

He also says that the hydraulically-operated, smooth moving floor means the trailers can load and unload a wide variety of products, and then backload goods, such as glass bottles, paper reels and drinks on pallets.

In brief detail, other key aspects of these trailers include: lightweight Mercedes disc brake axles; Haldex EBS brakes with rollover protection system; wireless remote control for moving floor operation; and a Legras sensor system that ensure safe discharge of reels.

These trailers have also been fitted with the Bi-line fall prevention system and on board weighing electronics, linked to Dynafleet telematics.

The multi functional equipment has been introduced and successfully trialled across a range of customers and products.

"Our decision to invest in Legras trailers was made easy by the excellent quality of these trailers. This is our first order from Legras Industries but hopefully we can work together again in the future."
