Mr Tuba sings praises of Mercedes-Benz vans18 May 2016

Musical instrument business Mr Tuba has taken delivery of a Mercedes-Benz Citan van and is reporting superb fuel efficiency – achieving 73 mpg on a recent trip from Cwmbran to London.

Supplied by dealer Euro Commercials, the latest addition to Mr Tuba’s fleet is a 109 CDI BlueEfficiency model, powered by a 90bhp diesel engine and features the Eco start/stop function, low rolling resistance tyres and optimised alternator and battery management systems, all designed to boost fuel economy.

Owner Mark Carter (pictured) now has a Citan, Vito and Sprinter – the latter being a long-bodied, high-roofed 3.5-tonne Sprinter 316 CDI. Carter says: “I bought my first Sprinter in 1995 and they’ve always been so reliable, practical and comfortable that I’ve never been without one since.”

As well as the tuba sale and repair business, he owns South Wales Piano Warehouse. “We promote our tuba business at numerous exhibitions and conferences on the continent – the Sprinter is ideal for this role, as well as for making more local collections and deliveries of pianos, which can be very expensive and must be transported with great care.

“We tend to run each vehicle for four or five years, then trade it in for a new one.”

All are supplied with Mercedes-Benz Service Care contracts and maintained at the dealer’s Newport workshop.
