Multi-million pound Enviro 300 bus order from First Glasgow 16 May 2013

First Glasgow is investing £14.3 million in 89 single-decker buses currently being manufactured by Falkirk-based Alexander Dennis.

All will be Enviro 300s—much the same as those ordered for First Aberdeen – with the new additions being powered by Euro 5 engines and offering low floor access.

The initial batch of 27 buses will begin transporting customers from June. The remaining 62 vehicles will enter service from September and will be spread across the network, with most running on new SimpliCITY routes.

This latest announcement brings First Glasgow's investment in new vehicles to around £25 million since November 2012: a total of 151 buses.

All the buses will be fitted with leather seats and offer complementary wi-fi. Meanwhile, the interior of each new vehicle has been modified to allow greater flexibility for both buggies and wheelchairs, while providing additional grab rails for all passengers whether seated or standing.
