Navigation know-how means smarter Scania trucks 30 November 2011

Scania and satellite navigation manufacturer Garmin have teamed up to produce a device designed for trucking and truckers.

The Scania 560 LT has a 5in touch screen and provides specialised routing to highlight truck-related issues, such as narrow roads, and height and weight restrictions, as well as congestion.

Operators and drivers can customise their routes by height, weight, width and hazardous materials, with the unit promising to generate the safest journey routes.

The sat nav, which comes with built-in Bluetooth, is now available from all Keltruck branches and is already proving popular with drivers – in part thanks to built in functions such as 'Your Scania Branch', enabling the driver to find his or her closest dealer wherever they are.
