Neal Soil Suppliers digs deep with MAN fleet replacement21 March 2016

Earthmoving and aggregates business Neal Soil Suppliers has taken delivery of nine MAN TGS tippers since the start of this year – prompted initially by a one-off hire of a MAN, which has resulted in 95% of its fleet now sporting the marque.

Supplied by dealer WG Davies, the Cardiff-based operator’s latest additions are TGS 35.400 8x4 tippers, with six-cylinder, 12.4-litre Euro 6 engines delivering 400bhp at 1,800 rpm.

Also featuring MAN’s TipMatic 12-speed transmission, each vehicle is plated for 32,000kg.

In the last three years, Neal Soils and sister company Atlantic Recycling have taken 30 MAN TGS 8x4 trucks with a range of bodies, along with four TGX 26.480 tractors through MAN TopUsed.

Group operations manager Mark Williams (pictured) says the business took a MAN on hire following “some issues” with 15 vehicles from another manufacturer: “We were very impressed with MAN and it seemed natural to go there when we replaced the fleet.

“Now I can safely say that we are MAN ambassadors,” he adds. “The fleet is currently 95% MAN and we will definitely be using them again in the future.”

He also praises the dealer, WG Davies, saying: “You really can’t fault them and they pull out all the stops for us.”
