New £5.3m facility for Scania Bridgwater07 December 2018

Scania’s new Bridgwater facility was officially inaugurated this week (5 December) by Torbjörn Sohlström, Sweden’s ambassador to the UK. The event was attended by transport operators, local dignitaries, and representatives from Scania (Great Britain)’s HQ.

The £5.3m, three-acre site is located on Bristol Road, Bridgwater close to junction 23 of the M5. Facilities include 11 work bays, a purpose-built recycling centre, as well as secure parking for 42 HGVs and 51 cars.

Scania Bridgwater will provide all-makes servicing, repair, maintenance and parts, along with new and used truck sales.

The building project incorporated an environmental management plan to preserve local wildlife and minimise the site’s impact on its surroundings. Energy efficiency measures include radiant panel heating for the workshops and air-source heat pumps.

Scania Bridgwater’s general manager Nigel Champion says: “Our new location will enable us to continue to achieve the high levels of customer service that we are associated with.

“The new location will provide more space for vehicles to manoeuvre and reduce congestion, and enable us to not only keep up with service demand, but grow the business, too.”

The new site will be open for business on Tuesday 18 December 2018.
