New FH tractor to celebrate Keyo owners’ 50 years 21 May 2013

One of the first new Volvo FH tractor units to go into service in the UK has joined Keyo Agricultural Services – with a specially commissioned golden cockerel logo to celebrate the owners' combined 50 years in the industry.

Mark van den Bos and Gary Baugh, joint managing directors of the Brigg, Lincolnshire, based poultry company, say the new FH was purchased to mark their business milestone.

The new FH, a 4x2 operating at up to 40 tonnes gcw, is powered by the D13C 13-litre engine rated at 460hp, and is on Volvo's Gold R&M contract, which includes the Volvo Uptime Assurance promise.

"Hauliers like us value this [service] as unplanned downtime causes major problems," comments van den Bos.

"The Gold Contract interfaces perfectly with our service regime and the way we like to operate our trucks as well," he continues.

And he adds: "We get extremely good service from [supplier] Crossroads at Scunthorpe that is tailored to our time constraints."

Keyo is a long-standing Volvo user and van den Bos has extensive experience of operating the marque since the F86 and F88 trucks of the 1970s.

He says that the company has periodically tried other trucks. "Operating other makes has provided a sounding board for opinions. However, it has reinforced our commitment and retained Volvo's position at the top of the tree for the company and the drivers."
