His Excellency Torbjörn Sohlström was joined at the event by 150 operators along with senior Scania executives and representatives of Gallagher Group, the site’s developer and owner.
Located on a three-acre greenfield site, close to J11 of the M23, the facility has four drive-through workshop bays, including facilities for gas-powered and Petroleum Regulations vehicles, and an ATF lane.
In addition to truck customers, the branch will provide a full aftersales service for bus and coach operators and users of Scania engines. A full Scania parts service, including parts for all makes, trailers and ancillary components will be offered, and the site has both new and used truck sales operations and a location for Scania Truck Rental.
Sustainability was high on the agenda at the site, which features automatic lighting, an in-house recycling station, a sustainable water drainage system and solar roof panels.
Martin Hay, managing director of Scania (Great Britain), says: “Located on a prime site and equipped with the very latest specialist tools and diagnostic technology, Scania Gatwick sets a new standard for commercial vehicle service in the Gatwick area.”
Scania Gatwick is open from 6am to 11pm Monday to Friday, and by appointment on Saturdays from 6am to 3pm.
