New Kormoran tyre range enters transport market16 September 2013

Kormoran is expanding its latest range of commercial vehicle tyres to include three new tread patterns available exclusively from Michelin Truck Professional (MTP) dealerships in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

The new steer and drive pattern tyres marks the most significant Kormoran product launch for nearly a decade, and replaces a previous generation of tyre, which has been on sale for 10 years.

The new tyres are designed for use on road and are claimed to be suitable for all lengths of journey – the main design feature being an optimised contact area for higher mileage potential.

The new range includes a 225/75 R 17.5, for medium weight rigid trucks and midi-coaches, and the 295/80 R 22.5 and 315/80 R 22.5 for heavy trucks and coaches.

Both the 225/75 and 315/80 steer tyres are categorised 'B' in wet braking, according to European tyre labelling regulations, while the 295/80 steer fitment, along with all three drive axle sizes, is rated 'C'.

Adding to the braking capability of these tyres is the M+S (mud and snow) rating of all of the drive tyres, while the larger 295/80 and 315/80 drive tyres feature the new Three Peaks mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol on the sidewall – an indication of their traction qualities on snow.

"Kormoran tyres are designed to be robust, reliable, regroovable and retreadable, giving operators a cost-effective tyre solution they can be confident in," says Richard Bezzant, MTP programme development manager. "The full range of Kormoran tyres is widely available across our 110 MTP service locations."

The three new sizes join the 235/75 R 17.5 and 285/70 R 19.5 versions of the same Kormoran tyre, which were introduced during 2012.
