New six-wheeler marks quarter century Volvo custom 31 January 2012

The purchase of a new Volvo FM11 six-wheel tipper by family business L&B Haulage marks more than 25 years of almost unbroken loyalty to the Swedish truck brand.

The first Volvo joined L&B Haulage in 1983, and since that time owner Angelo Binaccione has built up a fleet that is now 100% Volvo.

Binaccione's new FM11 truck, supplied by Truck and Bus Wales & West, features the 11-litre engine rated at 370bhp and matched to the Volvo I-Shift fully automated gearbox.

Bodywork is an insulated Wilcox Wilcolite tipper, suitable for both asphalt and aggregate and equipped with an air-operated split tailgate with integral tarmac chutes. Tipping gear is an Edbro front-mounted single ram system.

As L&B Haulage has always specified the highest levels of equipment, to maximise residual value, the Volvo FM11 truck is also equipped with a PM on-board weighing system, together with automated sheeting, alloy wheels and a Volvo two-camera safety system.

Stainless steel mirror guards and roof-mounted beacons complete the picture.
