Nissan broadens NV200 commercial vehicles with fridge van 26 September 2013

In response to demand for a bespoke refrigerated vehicle, Nissan has introduced the NV200 Fridge van, which is now available from dealerships, priced from £19,375.

The NV200 Fridge has been converted primarily for catering businesses, and, says the company, "to meet the highest standards of technical excellence".

The new van can refrigerate to 0°C and still leave 2.2m³ of load space – achieved with a conversion undertaken by European temperature-controlled specialist Gruau.

The interior of the van has been lined with an insulated cell, comprising moulded polyester-polyurethane panels to provide high-thermal efficiency and to maximise the volume of the van.

The cooling unit, by Carrier, is mounted on the roof, with a slight protrusion on top of the vehicle being the only external difference from the standard NV200.

The combination of the insulated cell and the cooling unit adds 215kg to the weight of the vehicle, meaning the conversion makes little impact on the base NV200's payload performance.

The NV200 Fridge is powered by Nissan's 1.5-litre dCi turbodiesel engine, which helps it to return an average of 57.7mpg, and emit 129g of CO2.

It also offers an overnight standby feature, with the vehicle able to be plugged into a 230V socket to ensure the contents are kept cold. There is also a temperature indicator and control unit in the cab.

"A lot of great work has gone into developing the NV200 Fridge as the ideal solution for any fresh food company's transportation needs," says Barry Beeston, Nissan corporate sales director.

Beeston believes the new van has several advantages over after-market conversions, including the fact that the NV200 Fridge "comes complete with our comprehensive three-year warranty".
