Paneltex enters 7.5-tonne electric truck into Future Car Challenge 19 October 2012

An all-electric Paneltex Isuzu 7.5-tonne electric truck will be making its debut in the third RAC Future Car Challenge, on Saturday 3 November, the day before the London to brighton veteran car run.

Based on the Isuzu Forward truck, the electric vehicle will be competing for the first time, covering the 63 mile route.

Announcing details of the firm's entry, Paneltex managing director Chris Berridge said: "We have been at the forefront of developing practical and efficient electric truck technology and [it is] a great opportunity for us to publicise the benefits and performance of the Zeroed electric truck range to a much wider audience."

Paneltex's electric truck is a 150kW Zeroed pure electric vehicle, featuring a Paneltex ATP Class C type approved insulated body and electric refrigeration system.

A combination of active and passive regenerative braking recovers the maximum possible braking energy, which, with the 100kWh battery, helps give this zero emissions urban delivery truck an unusually long range.

The 20kW on-board charger provides a full charge from flat in five hours, and in-built remote diagnostics and tracking provide live management information 24/7.

In 2008 the Company demonstrated its first Zeroed electric vehicle conversions, based on the Isuzu Grafter truck chassis.

Four years on, Paneltex offers a range of vehicles from five to 11 tonnes gvw, featuring 150kW peak power permanent magnet motors, and up to 100kWh of lithium iron phosphate battery capacity.
