Patersons Quarries gets Special Edition DAF XF tipper 20 April 2012

Patersons Quarries has recently acquired a tipper that it says raises tipping to new heights – a pristine white DAF XF Super SpaceCab Special Edition tractor, with Hyva tipping equipment.

The Coatbridge, Lanarkshire-based firm has 60-plus tippers on its fleet, all of which are also fitted with Hyva.

"In every area, Hyva tipping equipment gives us a superlative performance," comments Patersons transport manager Gordon Carlton.

"Whether for reliability, for durability, for speed or for after sales support, in our experience Hyva really is unbeatable. As a result, it's our first choice, whether for rigid bodies or trailers, with Hyva wet kits going on all our tractors too."

A long-time user of various truck makes, Patersons is now taking a significant number of DAF tractor units onto its fleet, with another six maroon XF 6x2 examples also now being delivered.

"We are finding the big DAF to be an excellent vehicle on many counts. It's attractively priced; provides good performance, with excellent fuel economy; offers masses of space for the driver; and comes with first class dealer support as well," comments Carlton.

"All round, a great standard-spec vehicle package. But when the opportunity to take a special Limited Edition model came up, I just had to take it. As a flagship model, it has raised our profile quite considerably."

And coupled to a new plank-sided Weightlifter aluminium tipping trailer, fitted with the evergreen Hyva FE191 tipping cylinder, the rig still carries an easy 29 tonnes payload.

Driving the white DAF is long-time Patersons employee John Moffat, who is highly appreciative of his new steed. "This truck combines everything you could possibly want," says Moffat. "But it's not all about comfort and luxury: it's still a hard working tipper that has to earn its keep. The Hyva hydraulics on both the tractor and the trailer really do add to the XF's performance."
