PCS engineers switch to BigChange solution27 June 2018

Mobile engineering firm Paul Clark Services (PCS) is rolling out the JobWatch workforce management system, from BigChange, to better manage its 120-strong team of engineers.

Thirty PCS engineers have been equipped with tablets as part of its phased implementation, which will see the firm eventually replace all paper-based systems and its existing software.

JobWatch offers a range of apps to eliminate paper work sheets, time sheets and vehicle inspection reports. The apps are all linked in real time to the BigChange back office system, which enables users to manage assets, job scheduling and customer service.

PCS engineers provide up to 6,000 hours of support per week to customers across the UK, mostly within the workshops of bus and coach operators. The company is a ZF UK service partner and supports Cummins UK, as well as bespoke engineering support to vehicle manufacturers such as Wrightbus and ADL.

The engineers are also using the devices for daily walkaround checks on their vans, eliminating paper reports. The system enables time-stamped photographs to be linked to the inspection reports and can be used to record any incidents.

“The BigChange solution will dramatically change the way we work by replacing the present manual systems,” said a PCS spokesperson.

“By eliminating paperwork and switching to app-based scheduling and reporting, we will see significant business administrative improvements. That means we’ll be able to expand freely and focus more time on delivering the best service.”
