Petro-Canada and Caterpillar to collaborate on lubes R&D 23 September 2015

Petro-Canada Lubricants has been selected by Caterpillar to collaborate on the lubricant development contract that will support a heavy duty vehicle efficiency programme sanctioned by the Energy Technologies Institute.

ETI’s programme involves a range of global industrial groups, and is aimed at accelerating development of next-generation lubricants and innovative driveline technologies for cost-effective, low-carbon transport.

“We believe it’s important to bring together industry leading experts in order to identify innovative solutions,” says Howard McIntyre, vice president of lubricants at Petro-Canada parent Suncor.

The program focuses on the potential development of unique, next-generation lubricants and an introduction to innovative driveline technologies. Field trials are ongoing.
