Pikes turns to new Volvo B11R29 March 2016

Pikes Coaches has taken delivery of its first new vehicle, a Euro 6 Volvo B11R with Jonckheere bodywork.

The Andover-based operator – which has previously purchased used vehicles from Volvo Bus – selected the new Euro 6 model for its fuel saving potential, as director Rob Pike explains: Our previous Volvo vehicles were B9Rs which have given us very good service, but we’re really looking forward to the fuel economy savings that the new B11R Euro 6 will deliver for us.”

The 12.57m-long vehicle features a Bosch Professional Line DVD Radio and CD player, Bosch 19in front and middle flat screen LCD monitors, leather headrest inserts, motorised driver’s blind to windscreen, a 9m3 luggage capacity and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels.

Pike adds: “We also value the excellent aftersales support we receive from MC Truck & Bus in Southampton, with whom we have a very good relationship and use for all our external service requirements.”

The new coach will be used for general private hire and contracts, as well as services for National Express.
