Plant hire contractor relies on custom-built body from Andover16 January 2015

Plant hire business Tom Prichard Contracting has taken delivery of a custom-built plant body from Andover Trailers, after hearing good reports about the product's durability.

The Llantrisant, South Wales-based operator's first trailer from Andover is an LPPB32 body, mounted to a 32-tonne Scania 8x2 rigid.

It has been fitted with hydraulic power toe ramps, hydraulic steady legs, and six sets of lashing points in the floor, as well as an electric Superwinch and plastic tool box to stow equipment securely.

The deck is five inches lower than a regular plant body, giving low ramp and beavertail approach angles – making it easier to load and unload machinery at customer sites.

"We chose to work with Andover on this latest trailer for one simple reason – reputation," says Tom Pritchard, owner of the business.

"Andover Trailers has a fantastic reputation in the industry for building durable and reliable equipment, and that's exactly what we need."

The trailer will be used on a double-shift basis, seven days a week, to transport plant equipment to customers across Wales and south-west England.
