Reading Buses says Freeway software ticks all the boxes26 October 2015

Reading Buses says it has constantly achieved high maintenance standards across its 178-strong fleet since adopting Freeway’s fleet management system to capture and analyse maintenance and repair data.

Freeway helps the operator to coordinate inspection programme and service intervals, and produces workshop job cards linked to the individual inspection and maintenance histories for each vehicle. Labour costs on sub-contracted vehicles are also captured.

The software also integrates with Reading Buses’ fuel management system, giving total running costs per mile for each vehicle make and model – including electric-hybrid and CNG-powered vehicles, which make up more than one third of the fleet.

The operator was one of the first to install Freeway more than a decade ago, and has been able to help shape system developments since that time.

“Although not bespoke to us, Freeway has developed right alongside us, adding new functionality to accommodate our evolving requirements,” says Mike Batt, purchasing and facilities manager for Reading Buses.

“As our requirements have evolved, so Freeway has evolved right along with us,” adds Batt.

“There has been nothing we’ve asked for that Freeway couldn’t provide. That’s pretty special.”
