Redcorn powers up with Mercedes Antos20 August 2018

End-of-life vehicle business Redcorn has expanded its fleet with two 26-tonne Mercedes-Benz Antos and has a further two on order.

Redcorn has a 90-strong transporter fleet, more than half of which are Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The latest Antos 2540 26-tonners are its most powerful to date, with 10.7-litre engines producing 389bhp, and have redesigned bodies for added operational efficiency.

The trucks are fitted with twin-deck bodywork by Belle Trailers, of Essex. Each is capable of carrying up to eight cars. Redcorn specified more durable fully galvanised bodies, rather than the painted steel versions it has specified previously.

The bodies are also lighter and 100mm lower than previous versions. They have a revised top deck with two ramps which can now be operated individually, and feature repositioned winches and reduced approach angles to facilitate easier loading.

The Antos were supplied by local dealer S & B Commercials, and have extended S-ClassicSpace day cabs.

Redcorn’s contracts manager Stuart Bunker says: “We choose Mercedes-Benz vehicles for their outstanding reliability and competitive whole-life cost of operation, as well as for an image of quality which our experience has proved to be well deserved.”

The operator maintains its fleet in its own workshop, but uses S&B Commercials for warranty and parts support, as well as technical assistance.
