Renault Range D has full measure of versatility for Adnams08 May 2017

Adnams of Southwold has taken delivery of its first Renault vehicle, an 18-tonne Range D high 4x2 R250 with bespoke curtainsider body, selected for its build quality and manoeuvrability.

Supplied by dealer Norfolk Truck and Van, the operator’s latest addition to its 29-strong delivery fleet is liveried in one of Adnams’ popular beers, called Ghost Ship.

The body includes a ‘slide and carry’ roof retractable net securing system by CV Rollers and installed by Colliers.

Adnams wanted to try a new vehicle and says the dealer put “the right deal together” for the Range D.

“We decided to give one a go on a trial basis, with vehicle reliability being the most important consideration for us,” says Kevin Wells, Adnams’ supply chain manager.

Customer deliveries can be challenging, particularly to old pubs in remote areas. But, says Wells, “the Range D’s narrow cab fits the bill perfectly for us”.

“It’s got a small front overhang and the reduced turning circle gives us greater manoeuvrability, too. In addition, the vehicle’s low deck height makes access and manual handling easier for delivery staff,” he adds.

A two-man delivery team is always used and the new Range D is equipped with dual air suspended comfort seat.

So far, so good, says Wells: “The payload of the Range D is good and it is promising good mpg, too, so we will be closely monitoring its performance and downtime over the coming months.”
