Renault trucks quartet joins Hampshire operator’s fleet 04 January 2013

Hampshire Plant and Access (HPA) has bought its first Renault trucks, through Renault Trucks distributor Sparks Commercial Services.

The firm went for three Premium Lander 380.26 6x2 trucks and a Renault Premium 460.25 6x2 tractor unit, all with Beavertail plant bodies, and all fitted with Renault Trucks' Optidriver automated gearbox.

"When looking to update our fleet to comply with the London LEZ [low emission zone], we wanted to be cost conscious, without losing out on quality," explains Ricky Hall, HPA's transport manager.

"The Renault Premium and Premium Lander have a number of key benefits for us, the main one being the impressive Optidriver gearbox," hew continues.

"These are the first trucks we have had with automated gearboxes and we are finding that they handle so much better – together with improved economy and less driver fatigue," he adds.

As for why Renault trucks, Hall says one of the key deciding factors was their reputation for reliability.

"We offer a same day service, often having to deliver plant in a few hours, so we cannot afford any delays or problems with our trucks, and the Lander ensures we can deliver," he says.
