Renault wins new Lander refuse collection contract23 March 2012

Transwaste Recycling and Aggregates has taken delivery of its first Renault Lander 310.26 6x2 rear steer rigid with Farid TS1 refuse collection body and rear end loader.

The new Lander, supplied by Renault Trucks dealer Thompson Commercials, Hull, joins the waste management services company's industrial waste collection operation, and takes the number of Renault trucks in the previously Mercedes-Benz dominated fleet to sixteen.

Working a 35-mile radius from the company's headquarters in Melton, Hull, the Lander makes up to 200 daily collections of bins sized between 240–1,100 litres and transports the refuse back to Transwaste's transfer station for sorting, where over 90% is recycled.

Commenting on the decision to specify the Renault Lander with day cab for an intensive multiple collection operation, rather than a traditional low entry cab, Paul Cutsforth of Transwaste says: "Initially our driver did express a few concerns about cab access, but now it is on the road he loves the Lander and the truck is doing a great job.

"We're an environmentally-focused business, so the Renault Lander's Euro 5 technology and green credentials were important factors."
