The brand-new site in Southampton is 60% larger than its predecessor and has the added capability of being able to support HGVs. It also includes conference-standard facilities which Rivus customers can use for training events and meetings.
There are similar developments elsewhere in the Rivus network, it reports. The Cardiff garage waas recently replaced with a larger HGV-compatible garage – meaning both new garages now have multiple HGV lanes, together with turning areas for trailers up to 13m, height clearance for double-deck trailers and ample parking space.
Rivus will also be opening a second garage in Bristol in the first half of the year – one with facilities to match those of Southampton and Cardiff – and this will be located outside of the city’s new ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone).
The investment in the garage network also means that most Rivus garages are now equipped to service, maintain and repair EVs from major manufacturers, it says. To achieve EV-readiness, technicians have embarked on rigorous training programmes to IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) standards. This technical know-how is underpinned by new diagnostic equipment for EVs, tooling and charging facilities.
Diagnostics have also been upgraded for traditional non-electric vehicles, which still make up the majority of commercial vehicles.
