Ryder helps Evans Cycles grow with 20 vehicle fleet 04 March 2015

Ryder has supplied a 20-vehicle mixed fleet of DAF and Mercedes-Benz trucks and vans on contract hire to Evans Cycles to support new store openings across the country.

The new vehicles comprise 13 DAF LF 7.5-tonners, two DAF CF 18-tonners and five Mercedes-Benz 3.5-tonne Sprinters, which together replace the specialist bike retailer's previously owned 15 vehicle fleet.

"Customer care is our prime objective and to achieve that we have to keep things moving, so we decided to look at the options for a total fleet replacement," explains Evans Cycles' logistics manager Richard Philpott.

"Our objective was to find a company that could look after our needs and we found the ideal solution by partnering with Ryder. No other organisation could offer the level of service and national spread of service and support centres," he continues.

Philpott says Ryder was "thoroughly professional" and kept him informed at every stage of the negotiation and vehicle delivery process.

"Ryder even arranged the disposal of our old owned trucks, which was another potential headache avoided," he says.

"Overall, Ryder made the transition from old trucks to brand new contract hire vehicles smooth and, as a result, we now enjoy better transport budgeting."
