Ryder is supplying Morphy Richards with three Mercedes-Benz Actros 2543LS 44-tonners, a curtainsided DAF CF220 18-tonner with tail lift, a curtainsided DAF LF150 with tail lift, and four SDC trailers on a five-year contract hire deal. The Actros tractors have PowerShift gearboxes, while the DAFs feature manual transmissions.
These vehicles will carry out deliveries to retailers across the UK from Morphy Richards’ DC in Mexborough, South Yorkshire.
Ryder is also supplying eight SDC skeletal trailers, which will be used to collect and return containers from UK rail ports, specifically Doncaster.
Morphy Richards sells more than four million products a year, including kettles, toasters, coffee makers, and irons. At least one Morphy Richards appliance can be found in more than 90% of all British households.

Initially, our tender attracted four contractors, including Ryder; two were invited forward to the next stage with Ryder ultimately winning on the basis of its approach to repair and maintenance.
“We particularly liked that Ryder had its own facility in Sheffield where the vehicles will be maintained and serviced, and where replacement vehicles can be supplied from. What’s important to us is the ability to keep our fleet moving, so it’s a real benefit that trailer servicing can take place at weekends.”
