Samsung releases see-through safety truck technology 24 June 2015

Samsung in Argentina has developed new technology for trucks that effectively makes them transparent to other vehicles.

The company says its 'safety truck' development is all about reducing traffic accidents caused by dangerous overtaking of commercial vehicles.

Saumsung's safety truck prototype has a wireless forward-facing camera built into the front of the truck, connected to a wall of video monitors mounted on the rear of the truck.

The camera simply transmits its view of what's happening in front of the truck to motorists travelling behind it – enabling them to overtake when the road ahead is clear, without having to edge out for a better view.

Samsung says another advantage if its new truck safety technology is that it reduces the risk of accidents caused by unexpected truck braking.

The prototype Samsung safety truck has now passed the testing phase and the project now awaits further testing around the world before it can attain national approvals.
