Scania graduate wins IMI’s outstanding achiever award16 November 2015

Ciaran Blakemore, a graduate of Scania’s three-year commercial vehicle apprenticeship, has won the Institute of the Motor Industry’s outstanding achiever award for the heavy vehicle category.

Blakemore, 23, has already won Scania’s own apprentice of the year trophy in 2013 and 2014, and is the second Scania graduate to win the IMI’s award, following Andy Ledbury’s victory in 2012.

Nominated for the award by Skillnet, Scania’s apprentice programme training partner, Blakemore is now working within Scania as a process improvement executive, developing new service standards for its branches in the South West.

“Ciaran is most certainly a rising star within our organisation,” says Claes Jacobsson, managing director for Scania (Great Britain).

“Since starting as an apprentice technician at our Heathrow branch, he has shown great aptitude for the job and a tremendous appetite for learning.

“I am delighted he now becomes one of our process improvement executives, which will enable him to share his knowledge as we continue to further improve and develop the service we deliver to our customers.”
