Scania hooks up with Schmitz for driver training trailers04 March 2015

Truck manufacturer Scania (Great Britain) has taken delivery of four 13.6m box body trailers from Schmitz Cargobull, for use in its driver training department.

The four S.KO FP25 trailers bring Scania's trailer training fleet to six, which are located at sites across the UK and will be used to train around 1,000 drivers each year.

Each is equipped with standard equipment, including ferry shackles and load restraint tracks inside the cargo area. Vehicles are partially loaded for the training exercises, with each trailer carrying up to eight tonnes.

Mark Agnew, Scania's driver development manager, says the Schmitz trailers were selected for build quality and residual value.

He adds: "We also want to train drivers on hardware that we know will be in use for years to come, so Schmitz Cargobull trailers are ideal for ensuring our trainees are familiar with commonly-used assets."
