Scania R 620 flagship truck for Knights of Old11 May 2010

Kettering-based transport firm Knights of Old has taken delivery of a new high-spec Scania R 620 LA 6x2/4MNA twinsteer tractor to replace 'Excalibur', its specially-commissioned gold Scania purchased seven years ago to celebrate its golden jubilee.

Designated fleet number 100, the vehicle has bespoke livery, alloy wheels, chequer-plating around the chassis and a lavish Topline cab. It too is now called Excalibur and, like its forebear, will be driven by the firm's longest-serving driver, Peter Morrell.

The vehicle was supplied by TruckEast, Scania's Wellingborough-based dealer for the northern Home Counties and East Anglia, which will also be responsible for R&M, under a six-year contract.

"We have operated Scania for many years and currently have 87 on the fleet," comments Knights of Old managing director Ian Beattie. "And the reason we keep coming back for more is their quality, reliability and consistently good fuel returns.
"We also enjoy an excellent relationship with our dealer, TruckEast, whose service is key to our business, as it leaves us free to focus on our clients without having to worry about who is looking after the fleet."
