Scania service sparkles for Travel Star29 February 2016

Coach operator Travel Star Gatwick has taken delivery of a Scania OmniExpress as part of its fleet upgrade programme, citing local dealership support as key to the decision.

The Crawley-based operator’s new addition (pictured) is based on a K 410 EB4x2 Euro 6 SCR-only chassis, and is supplied on contract hire with full R&M.

“Scania is a great manufacturer to deal with, in particular the local dealership, Scania Lingfield,” says Travel Star director Anthony Grace.

“They ensure my vehicles are repaired and maintained with minimal downtime.”

Separately, Scania has picked up an order for another OmniExpress, this time from Nottingham-based operator Hammonds Coaches.

This is the operator’s first new coach and is a ‘Finesse’ limited edition, based on a Scania K 410 EB 4x2 chassis with 410bhp SCR-only Euro 6 engine and fully automated Opticruise gear selection system.

The spec includes 53 half leather reclining seats, centre toilet, drinks machine, DVD plus two monitors, satellite navigation system, Webasto pre-heater and Durabright alloy wheels.

Hammonds’ owner Nick Hammond says: “This is our first new coach and we looked around at many different manufacturers but were extremely impressed with the specification of the Scania OmniExpress Finesse, along with the included two-year repair and maintenance package.”
