Seafield Logistics goes for flexible truck fleet replacements 08 September 2010

Worksop-based Seafield Logistics is reporting a marked increase in payload potential from its new MAN TGX.26.440 6x2/2 BLS tractor units, all of which were fleet replacements.

The company has taken delivery of 20 trucks, all specified with XLX cabs and currently being fitted with Gardner Denver blowers and tipping equipment to enable their use with tank trailers, tipper trailers and curtainsiders.

Seafield managing director Mark Strong says that special attention is being paid to the installation of this equipment to create a safer operating environment for the driver.

As for why MAN, he says: "MAN was able to meet all our requirements, actually guaranteeing a delivery date. Benchmarking also showed the vehicle to be competitive and the specification options were flexible enough for us to purchase an exacting vehicle for our specific operation."

Historically, he also says that Seafield has enjoyed a very good relationship with MAN and its dealer network. "We have been operating MAN trucks for the past five years, and they have all proved reliable and economical."
