Second time lucky for Phillips Coaches with Irizar i617 October 2016

Family-run Phillips Coaches of Essex has taken delivery of a new Irizar i6 Integral, after seeing the vehicle demonstrated at events.

“We’d seen the i6 Integral first at a CPT ride-and-drive event at North Weald,” says director Linda Phillips. “But by the time we’d decided to buy this new i6 from stock, it had been sold.”

However, after attending Irizar UK’s i-Drive Rockingham track day, the operator went to see another stock vehicle at Worksop: “We liked the interior... and made a decision to buy it there and then,” she adds.

The 12.9-metre i6 has 55 seats and is powered by DAF’s MX11 coupled with the ZF AS-Tronic auto-shift gearbox. Phillips Coaches initially intended to buy the fully-auto Ecolife but, after driving the demonstrator, preferred the smooth gear changes with AS-Tronic.

The vehicle’s safety features include AEBS and LDW, along with reversing camera for the driver.
