Eastleigh, Hampshire-based Selwood has other Mercedes trucks but this is the first time it has ordered heavy vehicles from dealer Euro Commercials, after five years of “exceptional service” from its van sales team.
Two Antos are 6x2 2530 models and are powered by 295bhp engines. The other three are 4x2 Antos 1824s with 235bhp versions of the same high-torque, 7.7-litre engine. All have PowerShift automated transmissions and ClassicSpace day cabs.
Their platform bodies, meanwhile, are by Bury-based PPS Commercials, and feature hydraulically-operated side safety walkways and fall-arrest systems. TH White, of Devizes, supplied and installed their radio remote-controlled cranes.
Selwood is a FORS Silver operator with multi-operating centre (MOCA) accreditation, so its new vehicles feature blind-spot minimisation equipment, cyclist sensors and left-turn alarms to meet the requirements of FORS and CLOCS.

In the last 12 months, Selwood has also acquired 40 Sprinter, Vito and Citan vans from Euro Commercials.
