Seven Midlum rigids lighten load for Fresh Linen 06 August 2013

Hotel and restaurant laundry supplier Fresh Linen has taken delivery of seven new Renault Midlum 220.12 12-tonne rigids from Renault Trucks distributor Norfolk Truck and Van.

These are the first Renault trucks for the Essex-based company, which is replacing larger MAN vehicles on its 12-strong fleet.

All the new Midlums have been fitted with Optitronic gearboxes and larger 200-litre fuel tanks. They also have box bodies and 1,000kg column tail-lifts.

"In order to streamline our operating costs, we decided to replace our fleet of 18-tonne and 15-tonne trucks with lighter vehicles," explains Karl Bueggeln, financial controller at Fresh Linen.

"Although the Midlum is a lighter truck, it still has the volume that we require and its shorter wheelbase gives improved manoeuvrability – a key benefit, as most of our deliveries are in urban areas," he adds.

Bueggeln also explains that he went for the larger fuel tanks so that drivers can fill up at Fresh Linen's central depot, with no need to refuel elsewhere.
