Skinner’s Brewery orders a double from Isuzu15 November 2016

Cornwall-based Skinner’s Brewery has taken delivery of a 6.5-tonne Isuzu Forward 4x2 rigid truck, fitted with a narrow dray body to enable deliveries to customers in coastal towns with restricted access roads.

The latest order, delivered by dealer T Harvey, follows the Truro-based brewery’s order last year of a 7.5-tonne Isuzu Forward rigid for the distribution fleet.

Despite the narrow body, built by South West Commercials of Redruth, the 6.5-tonner can still carry a payload of just over 3 tonnes, thanks to its low overall gvw.

Skinner’s transport manager Andrew Prynn says: “The compact footprint of the Isuzu 6.5-tonne Forward is ideal for this particular distribution route and the final chassis/body specification enables us to maximise on the payload carried, so we can optimise our journey routes in this part of coastal Cornwall, while also reducing potential body damage.”

Featuring Skinner’s distinctive red livery, the latest Isuzu is expected to be in operation for five years.

“We now have two Isuzus in our fleet and both are giving us excellent service, while the relationship we have with our local Isuzu dealer is absolutely first class. T Harvey is a joy to deal with and they make our life so much easier,” adds Prynn.
