Smart self-driving brains found new venture for transport sector18 May 2016

One of the brains behind Google’s self-driving car has founded a new business to provide autonomous driving systems for trucks that can be retrofitted to vehicles.

Before he founded Otto, Anthony Levandowski also had experience of the automotive sector, building self-driving cars for 510 Systems.

Now, according to reports in the New York Times, he’s turned his attentions to trucks and, with co-founder Lior Ron – who as at Motorola and, before that, headed up Google’s mapping division for three years – they hope to bring a viable alternative to the transport sector.
