Smart visibility solution for hooklift operators09 May 2019

Hiab has announced that its HiVision system is now available for the Multilift hooklift, delivering an ‘augmented reality’ in-cab view to the driver to make hooklift operation easier, safer and quicker.

With HiVision, operation guidance and equipment information is overlaid to real-life footage captured by rear cameras. The driver sees it on a touchscreen display inside the truck cabin that can also be used to operate the hooklift.

A Multilift with HiVision has three rear-mounted cameras at different heights, so the driver has a full overview. The system can detect containers and, with the push of a button, the driver can receive guidance to reverse and lift the container.

“In challenging environments HiVision makes hooklift operation easier as the system guides the driver to hook up the container at the first attempt. We are very pleased to bring this more intuitive operation to the market, as there has been a strong interest for this in focus groups,” says Jon Lopez, Hiab’s vice president for demountables.

The system also shows the operator whether the container is loaded and secured correctly, as well as warning the driver of any static or oncoming obstacles so operation can be stopped, if necessary.

The system is designed to work with the latest Multilift Ultima range (pictured).
