Spanish haulier reveals fuel savings in Goodyear tyre tests 20 October 2016
Spanish haulier Marcotran is anticipating annual fuel savings of almost €1,000 per vehicle, after trialling a mix of Goodyear’s FuelMax and KMax tyres across its fleet.
The operator currently uses FuelMax truck tyres, but wanted to test the KMax to see what difference it could make for its long-haul routes, some of which extend from Spain to Moscow. The challenge was to compare the savings in fuel with those for tyre costs.
The trials showed that the possible savings for KMax tyres in relation to mileage was €287.70 per year per vehicle. Fuel consumption with the FuelMax tyres was 30.38 litres/100km and 31.58 for the KMax combination, representing an annual fuel saving of €1,252 with FuelMax tyres.
Marcotran’s conclusion was that it could save a total of €964 per vehicle per year by using FuelMax on selected routes.
