Sparks plugs into £1m of Schmitz fixed-roof curtainsiders18 March 2015

Sparks Transport has placed an order with Schmitz Cargobull for 53 aluminium fixed-roof curtainsiders, in a deal said to be worth more than £1 million.

The Glastonbury-based operator has ordered from Schmitz in the past – 60% of its 150-strong trailer fleet is from Schmitz – but it was the trailer manufacturer's introduction of the fixed-roof curtainsider model that prompted the latest order.

Sparks' trailers are specified with European front bulkheads with a tilt board, but the 13.6m trailers are also available with wraparound curtains and a new aluminium front bulkhead with galvanised steel front and rear corner posts.

This spec is more popular with UK operators as it enables standard forklifts to load through the side aperture, without requiring a side-shift capability.

The Sparks trailers comply with DIN EN 12646 Code XL load security regulations and have been funded through Cargobull Finance.
