Speedy achievement for FORS practitioner02 June 2017

FORS, the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme, has announced that its 700th practitioner is Costain’s Dave Richmond – he completed all nine courses in less than five weeks.

FORS practitioners undertake nine workshops on topics including developing road transport policy, safe and efficient fleet management, and monitoring and measuring road fleet performance. Delegates can attend one or all of the workshops, in any order, but all nine must be completed to gain FORS practitioner status.

Dave Richmond, is logistics and traffic manager for Costain, which is part of a consortium called Tideway East set up to build and operate the Thames Tideway Tunnel. Tideway East is a FORS champion and promotes the importance of the standard throughout its supply chain.

He says the workshop on managing work-related road risk was particularly insightful. “The reason we were keen to be involved with FORS was because of its focus on safety, and although this was one of the most useful courses, the whole package of workshops interlink and have a theme of safety that is key for us,” he adds.
